NECK PAIN & HEADACHES

Neck pain can be deeply disruptive to daily life. At PEAK, our experienced therapists have been treating neck pain and headaches for over six years. We take a holistic approach, addressing the root cause to ensure lasting relief and prevent recurrence.

Signs I Symptoms I Causes

Neck pain, something that we at PEAK have all experienced personally, it can present in many ways including:

  • Pain that is present in the neck only
  • Pain in the neck that also spreads to:
    • The mid back (thoracic region) and upper trap muscles
    • Shoulder/arm/hand/fingers and thumbs
    • Back of the head or forehead 
    • Jaw
    • Signs of dizziness, blurred vision and vertigo. 

Neck pain can be caused by many structures, but the 2 most common causes we see are:

  • Bulging discs &/or
  • Facet joints

Neck pain can be extremely uncomfortable. If you have ever woken with a sore neck, and have been unable to lift your head off the pillow or even felt a dull ache build up between your shoulder blades whilst you are at work then you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about! 


When experiencing neck pain, people often have great difficultly:

  • Sleeping
  • Sitting at their work station
  • Maintaining regular exercise

The PEAK Treatment

At PEAK, we take a multi-faceted approach to the management of your neck pain. Together with an accurate diagnosis (finding the exact pain causing structure). 

We will look at:

  • Your sleeping position/s
  • Your pillow (we often get patients to bring their pillow into the clinic for assessment)
  • Your work station
  • Your sitting position – we have a 3 point posture system
  • Your muscle imbalances:
    • Areas of increased tone, &
    • Obvious weaknesses

At PEAK, we rehabilitate the root cause in addition to addressing environmental contributors. With this quite thorough approach to neck pain management, we are confident that we can reduce your pain, and most importantly, prevent it from returning.
