Common Causes

What causes this condition?

🏃

ACL & Ligament Injuries

ACL, MCL and LCL tears are common in field sports. Our physiotherapists are experienced in conservative management and post-surgical ACL reconstruction rehabilitation.

🔄

Patellofemoral Pain

Anterior knee pain caused by poor patellar tracking is one of the most common knee conditions. Responds very well to targeted quadriceps and hip strengthening.

💿

Meniscal Injuries

Meniscal tears range from minor — managed conservatively — to complex tears requiring surgery. Our physios will assess severity and guide the most appropriate pathway.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I avoid surgery for a torn ACL?
In some cases yes — particularly in less active individuals or those with partial tears. Your physiotherapist will discuss all options. If surgery is indicated, we provide pre and post-surgical rehabilitation.
How long does ACL rehabilitation take?
A full return to sport after ACL reconstruction typically takes 9–12 months. We follow evidence-based milestones to ensure a safe return and reduce re-injury risk.
What causes knee pain when going down stairs?
This is commonly patellofemoral pain — caused by poor patellar tracking or weakness in the quadriceps and hip muscles. One of the most successfully treated knee conditions with physiotherapy.
