Common Causes

What causes this condition?

🦶

Plantar Fasciitis

The most common cause of heel pain. Inflammation of the plantar fascia causes sharp pain with the first steps in the morning. Highly responsive to physiotherapy.

🏃

Achilles Tendinopathy

Overload of the Achilles tendon causes pain and stiffness at the back of the heel. Requires a precise tendon loading program to resolve fully.

🌀

Ankle Sprains & Instability

Ankle sprains are the most common sports injury. Mismanaged early, they lead to chronic instability. Early physiotherapy is essential for full recovery.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can physiotherapy cure plantar fasciitis?
Yes — the vast majority of plantar fasciitis cases resolve fully with physiotherapy. Most patients see significant improvement within 6–8 weeks.
How long does an ankle sprain take to heal?
A minor sprain may recover in 2–4 weeks. More severe sprains may take 6–12 weeks. Early physiotherapy is key to full recovery and prevention of chronic instability.
Do I need orthotics for foot pain?
Not always. Your physiotherapist will assess whether orthotics are appropriate or whether strengthening and biomechanical correction is sufficient.
