Clinical Exercise Classes
Aspire Physiotherapy provides Clinical Exercise Classes. These classes incorporate Rehabilitative strengthening/mobility/balance exercises as well as elements of Clinical Pilates and are ideal for anyone recovering from injury, experiencing chronic pain, following child-birth, or returning (or new to) to exercise.
What is Clinical Pilates?
The Pilates Method is a form of exercise developed in the early 20th Century by Joseph Pilates, to aid in the rehabilitation of injured WW1 soldiers. It is utilised today as a way to build strength in your core muscles for better posture, balance and flexibility. Springs, leverage and body weight are used as resistance while performing movements targeting specific muscle groups. Clinical Pilates (as opposed to generic Pilates) focusses on an individual’s needs by identifying and addressing weaknesses and imbalances in the body’s movement patterns. At Aspire Physiotherapy you will have access to Pilates reformer, Cadillac, trapeze, pedal chair and barrels which can either provide support or a more challenging and intense workout, all under the guidance of a qualified Physio.
What is involved?
Small group classes are run throughout the week. Please contact us for the class schedule, as these can change pending our participants schedules and class popularity. One-on-one class appointment times are flexible, making them easier to work into your day. All new participants are required to undergo an Initial Clinical Exercise Assessment which will involve going through your medical and injury history, as well as a physical assessment to determine any further weaknesses/imbalances to address during your program. You will be introduced to the Equipment and the basic principles of movement and body alignment. Following this, a program will be tailored to your individual needs. Casual classes are available, however Pre-purchased Packs of 10 classes are also available at a reduced rate to encourage commitment to your program. We offer an Introduction to Clinical Exercise Course which involves 6 one-on-one sessions at half the normal price.
Can I claim this on my health fund?
This will depend on your Health Fund and level of cover, and will come out of your physiotherapy allocation. One-on-one classes will fall under the Item Number 505 (Subsequent Consultation) for your Health Fund, and Group classes will fall under Item Number 560 (Group Consultation). We offer on-the-spot Health Fund Rebates via HICAPS for payment at the time of single sessions, however Health Fund rebates can only be claimed after a service has been received. Therefore, Pre-purchased Pack rebates can only be claimed through your health fund at the completion of the pack, where a receipt will be issued. Please bring water, a towel and socks to your session, and wear comfortable clothing for exercise.
